On the Mend
Hello Again,
The rash of malaria cases has waned, thank You, Lord, though, we still have one adult ailing with typhoid. She is being treated and will recover fully.
Wonderful supporters have boosted our house projects into overdrive. The laying of pavers in the courtyard nears completion. The plumber finished piping water from the cistern to the structures and installed the taps. The electrician is working on the final installation of light fixtures and outlets.
Bob Hope said that when he was a kid and the winters were cold his momma just threw on another brother for them to snuggle up with. In a like manner our kids have been sleeping on mats on the floor. When a boy scratches his foot, someone on the other side of the room says, “Thanks!” Their new home will have new beds for all of them. Their first.
I was introduced to a man recently (Rob) who was in contact with a Pastor in Uganda. The Pastor weighed heavy on his heart, and Rob wanted to help the man with his fledgling church and school but didn’t know where to start. I knew how Rob felt. I had approached the young lady who was the head of missions at the church Rob and I attend, the same lady who introduced Rob to me, with the same dilemma six years ago.
First things first, because not everyone is honest, I asked Tony if he minded vetting the man for Rob. Tony had sick kids to tend, so his Pastor, Denis (whom I met and love), traveled to meet the man and reported back with great news: Pastor John, is a man of God with 5 children of his own, a small congregation, and a dozen or so kids who attend the classes he and his wife teach. I’m sure God will do great things through Rob and Pastor John.
An aside, the village where Pastor John lives was 150 miles away, a 7-hour trek by car for Denis. Where I live, driving 7 hours will take you 525 miles. I’m sure some of you will wonder if it was the car he drove or the roads that hindered his progress. The latter will rip the axles out from under a vehicle quickly.
